Message from District Governor
This Rotary year, inspired by the call from Rotary International to Unite for Good, we rally around our District’s message: Together, One Act at a Time. It reminds us that the power of Rotary lies not only in grand projects, but in simple, consistent acts of service that create lasting change.
Our flagship focus areas this year are Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)—two deeply interconnected
pillars that are critical to the health and dignity of our communities.Under MCH, we will prioritize two areas.
First, reducing maternal and neonatal mortalities by supporting health facilities with uninterruptible medical oxygen supply and other essential interventions.
Too many mothers and newborns continue to face life-threatening conditions in under-resourced centers. We must change that one facility, one intervention, one life at a time.
Second, we are committed to empowering teenage mothers. These young women, often forgotten or stigmatized, deserve the chance to rebuild their lives. Through vocational skills training, psychosocial
support, and mentorship, we will help them reintegrate into society with dignity and hope. In the WASH space, our efforts will focus on two areas as well.
First, the provision of WASH facilities at health centers, because no mother should have to deliver a child in a place without clean water,
working toilets, or proper hygiene infrastructure. Safe birth begins with a safe environment.
Second, we will enhance capacity, knowledge, and innovation in WASH through the Rotary WASH Institute at Nkumba University. This institute stands as a beacon for research, training, and practical solutions. It is a resource for all of us, and a launchpad for scalable, sustainable change.
This is not work we can do alone. I urge every club to identify a local need and take bold, focused action. Partner with health workers. Support a struggling health center. Sponsor a teenage mother. Restore dignity and safety to one corner of your community. Every single act done with love and purpose will move us closer to our shared vision. Let us also lift each other up by telling our stories. Document your projects. Capture impact in words, data, and images. Share them across our District so we can celebrate your efforts, learn from each other, and build collective momentum.
As your Governor, I stand ready to support, guide, and champion your work. Let us serve with courage, compassion, and boldness. The time is now. The cause is clear. And together, one act at a time we will unite for good. My visits to your clubs have been very humbling and I am grateful for the opportunity to see the magic of your works first hand. I am in awe at the spirit of service, the impact, the transformation you are bringing in our communities and for your love for Rotary. Rotary truly gives us the
opportunity to live a purpose filled life and thank you for your wonderful hearts. Let us please us remember to share our stories with the communities, partners and corporates and with good appreciation of whoever may have helped us along the way. This is the main way people will understand what Rotarians do by our works and join in support or as members. We need all the helping hands we can get.
We have already completed two months of this Rotary year and I trust we are now well settled and have built up the momentum to fulfil the targets we have set ourselves. I humbly request you all to give it your very best. The time is now. Let us keep creating that magic that we Rotarians do so well and let us make Rotary Irresistible.
Please know how special each and everyone of you is, and that the legacy we shall leave in this world is one to be proud of and will live on beyond us. It is a great privilege so let us continue serving with due care.
Wishing you a great month.
